Three Ways We Help You at Home

Every family is different. Therefore, we offer three kinds of care. Cuidado Casero Home Health & Hospice provides the following home health care services.

Home Health Care

Receive skilled nursing and rehabilitation services in the comfort of home. Our team works with your healthcare provider to support recovery, manage health conditions and improve independence.

Get dependable help with bathing, dressing, meal preparation, mobility and other daily activities. Personal care can help older adults and people with disabilities remain safer and more independent at home.

Receive comfort-focused physical, emotional and spiritual support during a serious, life-limiting illness. Our hospice team also provides guidance and support for family members.

Not Sure Which Type of Care You Need?

Choosing care can feel overwhelming. However, answering a few basic questions can help:

Do you need care from a nurse or therapist? Home health care may be appropriate.
Do you need help with everyday activities? Personal home care may be a better fit.
Do you need comfort-focused support during a serious illness? Hospice care may help.

    Frequently Asked questions

    What Services Do You Provide?

At Cuidado Casero, we provide home health, hospice and personal care assistance. Please refer to our locations page for a full list of services provided at each location.

    What is Home Health Care?

Home health care provides medically necessary skilled services in a patient’s home. Depending on eligibility and the care plan, services may include skilled nursing, physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech-language pathology and medical social services.

For example, a patient may receive wound care, injections, caregiver education or support after surgery. A healthcare provider must order Medicare-covered home health care, and the patient must meet applicable eligibility requirements.

Medicare describes covered home health services as part-time or intermittent skilled care and lists nursing, therapy, wound care, injections and patient education among covered services when requirements are met.

Examples of skilled home health services include:

    • Wound care for pressure sores or a surgical wound

    • Patient and caregiver education

    • Intravenous or nutrition therapy

    • Injections

    • Monitoring serious illnesses by skilled clinicians

The goal of home health care is to treat an illness or injury. Home health care can help you recover, regain your independence, and become as self-sufficient as possible.

As a home health agency, we act as a liaison between patient and doctor, saving you precious time from getting authorization for service.

What is Personal Home Care Assistance?

Personal care services provide seniors and disabled individuals with assistance in activities of daily living, which may be difficult or unsafe for these individuals to perform on their own. Also referred to as private duty care, these services cover personal activities, such as dressing and bathing, and homemaking tasks, such as meal preparation and light housekeeping.

Personal home care provides nonmedical assistance with everyday activities.

For example, a caregiver may help with bathing, dressing, mobility, meal preparation and light household tasks.

Unlike skilled home health care, personal care does not usually require treatment from a nurse or therapist. Coverage and payment options vary by plan, program and location.

    What is Hospice Care?

Hospice care focuses on comfort, dignity and quality of life for people living with terminal illnesses. Services may include pain and symptom management, nursing support, emotional care, spiritual support and help for family caregivers.

Under the Medicare hospice benefit, a physician must generally certify that the patient has a life expectancy of six months or less if the illness follows its usual course. Care may continue beyond six months when the patient remains eligible and is recertified.

What is the Difference Between Home Health and Personal Care Assistance?

The difference between home health and personal home care assistance is the necessity for skilled services. Home health care requires skilled services that would come from a physician’s order. This includes things like registered nurses, physical therapy, and occupational therapy.

Personal care assistance involves nonmedical personal care services that can be paid by insurance as well as private pay. These services include help around the house, transportation, bathing, and some light meal preparation.

Will My Insurance Cover Your Services?

Each location accepts different insurance providers. Please refer to the location page of that location to determine what insurance is accepted.

Coverage and costs vary according to the service, insurance plan, eligibility requirements and location. Before care begins, our admissions team can contact your insurance provider to verify available benefits and explain any known patient responsibility.

    How Much Are Your Services?

Under all insurances that we accept, there is no out-of-pocket cost to the patient unless specified by the health plan.
